Conflict of Interest Policy

A conflict of interest arises when authors, reviewers, or editors have interests that may influence any stage related to the publication process: from the biased writing of an article to the acceptance of a submission based on personal interests.

According to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), these interests may be personal, commercial, political, academic, or financial. The latter may include “employment, research funding, stock ownership, payment for lectures or travel, consultancy, and company support” (COPE 44*).

The Ecuadorian Journal of Philosophical-Theological Sciences urges authors to disclose any conflicts of interest that may arise during the writing and/or submission of a publication proposal. Likewise, reviewers are required to declare any conflicts of interest that could influence the task assigned to them. The journal reserves the right to halt the corresponding review process based on this information. For its part, the Editorial Team of the Ecuadorian Journal of Philosophical-Theological Sciences is committed to making decisions that promote the absence of conflicts of interest at all stages of the editorial process.
