ANTI-PLAGIARISM POLICY OF THE ECUADORIAN JOURNAL OF PHILOSOPHICAL-THEOLOGICAL SCIENCES (RECiFiT)

Commitment to Academic Integrity
The Ecuadorian Journal of Philosophical-Theological Sciences (RECiFiT) is committed to upholding academic and scientific integrity in all its publications. To ensure that all published content is original and contributes to the advancement of knowledge, a strict anti-plagiarism policy is implemented.

Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is defined as presenting ideas, data, or work of others as one’s own without proper acknowledgment. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text or excerpts from other works without proper citation.
  • Paraphrasing content from other authors without giving credit.
  • Using images, tables, figures, or other resources from third parties without authorization or reference.
  • Self-plagiarism: reusing previous works without indicating that the content has been previously published.

Plagiarism Detection Tools
RECiFiT employs advanced technological tools, such as Turnitin or similar systems, to verify the originality of submitted manuscripts. These tools help identify textual matches and ensure the academic quality of publications.

Responsibilities of Authors
Authors wishing to publish in RECiFiT must:

  • Ensure the originality of their manuscripts.
  • Properly cite all sources used, following the established editorial guidelines.
  • Declare that the work has not been previously published nor is under consideration in another journal.
  • Sign a declaration of originality confirming that the content is their own and that all sources have been duly acknowledged.

Verification Process

  1. Initial Review: The editorial team performs an initial review using the following rubric and plagiarism detection software.
  2. Peer Review: Manuscripts are reviewed by academic experts in the subject matter of the manuscript who verify the integrity of citations, references, argumentation, and conclusions.
  3. Actions in Case of Plagiarism:
    • Rejection: If full or partial plagiarism is detected, the manuscript will be rejected.
    • Retraction: If plagiarism is identified after publication, the article will be retracted, and an official notification will be issued.
    • Sanctions: In cases of repeated or deliberate plagiarism, the authors involved may be prohibited from publishing in RECiFiT.

Exceptions
Certain textual overlaps stemming from the use of common concepts or standard phrases in academic contexts will be acknowledged. In such cases, the context will be carefully evaluated.

Education and Awareness
RECiFiT promotes education on the importance of research ethics and provides clear guidelines to authors to avoid plagiarism and correctly cite sources.

Policy Review and Updates
This anti-plagiarism policy will be periodically reviewed to ensure alignment with international best practices and technological advancements in plagiarism detection.
