Evaluation
Evaluation Policies
The Revista Ecuatoriana de Ciencias Filosófico-Teológicas adheres to an internal evaluation system conducted by academic scholars and implements a double-blind peer review process, ensuring the confidentiality of both authors and reviewers.
The estimated time between the receipt of the manuscript and the final editorial decision is a maximum of 10 weeks. The journal publishes twice a year, in June and December.
Evaluation Process Phases
- Submission of Manuscripts
Authors must submit their manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system, within the deadlines established in the semiannual Call for Papers. This process involves no fees for authors.
Submitted manuscripts must comply with the journal’s editorial guidelines, and authors must agree to the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License.
- Preliminary Editorial Review
The Editorial Team conducts an initial assessment to verify compliance with the minimum publication requirements. At this stage, the team may:
- Reject the manuscript if it does not meet the journal’s basic editorial standards.
- Suggest improvements for the author to submit a revised version addressing the observations.
- Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the preliminary review are forwarded for external evaluation under a double-blind system, involving at least two experts in the relevant subject area.
Reviewers must adhere to the journal’s evaluation guidelines and are given a maximum of three weeks to submit their assessments using a pre-defined review form.
- If both evaluations are favorable, the editorial decision and reviewers’ comments will be sent to the author for revision.
- In case of conflicting evaluations, the manuscript will be submitted to a third reviewer.
Acceptance and Editorial Process
The manuscript will be considered accepted once the Editorial Team approves the revised version, submitted within the indicated timeframe and adjusted according to the reviewers’ recommendations.
Subsequently, the manuscript undergoes the following editorial stages:
- Language and style editing
- XML-JATS tagging
- Final layout and design in PDF and HTML formats
Resubmissions and New Submissions
Manuscripts not accepted for publication may be resubmitted in future calls for papers, provided that the required revisions have been made. Each new submission will initiate a new evaluation process.
Publication Timeline
Once accepted, the estimated time for publication is 1 to 3 months, according to the journal’s established editorial calendar.
