Abstract
The pontificate of Pope Francis has once again revalorized the expertise and the specific contribution that the lay people are called to bring to the ecclesial community, following the directives of the Second Vatican Council and the call of John Paul II to be “men and women of synthesis”. It is therefore necessary to consider family ministry as part of the specific agency of the lay people, and their contribution to the pastoral care of a Church going forth. Pope Francis has called families to be the main protagonists of family ministry, thus giving their concrete contribution to evangelization, the task of the whole Church. On the other hand, the Church must learn from the style of family relationships in order to overcome the temptation of clericalism and formalism. It is necessary to focus the person at the center of pastoral concern, in order to accompany processes of discernment and integration, especially of those who have left the community.
